At the time this movie came out, Pokiri had just broken all box office records, so the Mahesh Babu fannishness was actually at its peak. Also, the Swati flashback to her in school, beating up a bully, she uses the same dialogue that was used in Pokiri.

brotherly protection of sisters and other family obligations

I don't remember the brotherly bit, but the family obligations thing was meant to be funny, as far as I recall. Anyway, I laughed, as well.

And - perhaps this comes only from knowing the language, but Srini A annoyed me intensely because of the way he spoke Telugu, with the anglicised accent. I mention it only because it amused me to see the differing perspectives we both had on the same actor in the same film. =)SSKhttp://coffee-clouds.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-18589841647101399502011-02-10T10:20:32.319-06:002011-02-10T10:20:32.319-06:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.cfp123https://www.blogger.com/profile/02166736038778263633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-87502574459042490912011-02-09T08:27:37.393-06:002011-02-09T08:27:37.393-06:00Great video!Great video!Jokehttp://www.joke.co.uk/fancy-dress/film-stars~thm_film_stars/index.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-24561550442158069952011-02-07T08:39:57.520-06:002011-02-07T08:39:57.520-06:00Even I haven't bothered to watch Akshaye in Sh...Even I haven't bothered to watch Akshaye in Shortkut for some reason.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-53168421654686654292011-02-05T09:13:26.881-06:002011-02-05T09:13:26.881-06:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Download missing DLL files and drivershttp://www.softpicks.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-17034902458188441842011-02-03T15:05:36.073-06:002011-02-03T15:05:36.073-06:00I hope you're recovering from your bad run of ...I hope you're recovering from your bad run of worse movies. I wanted to offer some consolation by way of a ringing endorsement of,more than that, a shouted "Amen!" to, this wonderful passage:
"I have become very wary and intolerant of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's self-gratifying filmmaking. If he wants to make beautiful things that are full of nothing and just kept them to himself, tacked up on his fridge, or even sent to family members as birthday presents, then that's his business; releasing such things into the general public with formal arrangements that involve him asking us for money to experience them makes his indulgent delusions all of our business, and I for one am not having any part of them."

That passage should be broadcast worldwide 24/7 via every medium known to sentience for as long as it takes for its profound truth to be appreciated by all.mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042500344000182850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-17290897450306878902011-02-03T10:37:54.549-06:002011-02-03T10:37:54.549-06:00I bailed on Black, stuck it out through Saawariya ...I bailed on Black, stuck it out through Saawariya and haven't the intestinal fortitude for Guzaarish after reading your and other reviews. I think Bhansali identifies with the handicapped--far too much--and Guzaarish might be a cry for help! His early work was so beautifully wrought and tightly focussed. His Devdas is a fucking masterpiece. Saawariya could have been wonderful if about an hour had been cut from it. Wonder what would happen if he tried a comedy. Hey, there's a topic for a palooza maybe... which actors/cirectors do you want to see go againt type and do something wildly different? Hmmm?SVHhttp://bombaytaliez.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-62615216927326713102011-02-03T08:56:25.144-06:002011-02-03T08:56:25.144-06:00LOL! I too try very hard not to bail (not sure why, maybe because I am a bit of a completist) but I could not tolerate TRRP, it was like being tortured (and did we not bail on Dance Dance at the same time, at my house?) :D I do not have the will to even try to watch Shortkut (am boycotting misspelled titles now on principle).memsaabhttp://memsaabstory.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-70283325346063724592011-02-03T04:45:19.882-06:002011-02-03T04:45:19.882-06:00you’ve got great elements there and I do like how ...you’ve got great elements there and I do like how you encourage the readers to take the time to think.India Pictureshttp://www.veethi.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-20760833680660293182011-02-02T12:59:21.925-06:002011-02-02T12:59:21.925-06:00Koci - Did you make it all the way through? I will happily try to Akshaye-evangelize you over email if you wish :) In my opinion, he makes some very bad choices about roles; there are some that he nails but is so surrounded by dreck that they're hardly worth watching, but there are a few that are really good within projects that are also enjoyable. Not nearly enough, though. If you saw Tees Maar Khan, what did you think of him there?

Bhansali really aggravates me. If only he would work half as hard on getting good scripts as he does on making beautiful visuals....

Lime(tte) - Do you think it will just get bigger and crazier with each role? :)Beth Loves Bollywoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05540154833326987567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-23990764003651198912011-02-02T08:51:55.792-06:002011-02-02T08:51:55.792-06:00"played by his hair" - exactly!"played by his hair" - exactly!Mettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08094234448852441633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-85567680932227651242011-02-01T05:47:48.856-06:002011-02-01T05:47:48.856-06:00Very nice Indians. Going...I admit, it was hard to stick with Shortkut. Going into it with the sole purpose of watching Arshad Warsi work his dance skillz, I thankfully wasn't that invested in it. All in all, I can't even remember what happened--just that Arshad's cute, Akshaye's annoying, and Amrita looks nothing like she did in Main Hoon Na. The sad thing is, I desperately want to like Akshaye Khanna, but have only succeeded in doing so in Aaja Nachle. In all his other roles he's just missing something.

I haven't seen Guzaarish, but I agree with your Bhansali issues. Saawariya was beautifully shot, and I always go back and watch the songs, but his films are just too dramatic and tend to lack the substance to back it up.Kocihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06886321425264061679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-34990778321383054632011-01-31T12:37:02.093-06:002011-01-31T12:37:02.093-06:00I wrote up both *Mixed Doubles* and *Welcome to Sa...I wrote up both *Mixed Doubles* and *Welcome to Sajjanpur* after we watched them together - so you don't have to! ;)

Sorry you've had a bad run.
